Legendary Spillers Records is facing closure because of rising rents.

The Cardiff institution – the oldest record store in the world – has to be out of its property at 36 The Hayes by the end of June, after being given six months by landlords Helical Bar in December.

The closure of this landmark store would be a huge loss to the Cardiff music scene, the history of the city, and for the sake of independent music everywhere.

The Cardiff store dubbed the oldest record shop in the world reopens in new premises on Thursday a month after leaving its home of the last 60 years.
